Be Happy asks Kaufman County for funds to run new transportation for participants

Shelly, founder and executive director of Be Happy, told commissioners the nonprofit recently launched door-to-door transportation using a second van and asked the county to increase support to sustain that service. Shelly emphasized that transportation is about “opening their doors, opening their worlds,” and described pre-vocational and day-program activities that the van will connect participants to across Kaufman County. Commissioners acknowledged the need but said funding decisions will depend on the county’s overall budget priorities.
