The Parker County Commissioners approved an advanced funding agreement and related engineering design work to move forward on the FM 5 and Bankhead Highway intersection project with TxDOT.
Chris Bosco of Freese and Nichols told the court the county would provide plans, environmental approvals and right-of-way while TxDOT would manage construction. "The estimate for the county's contribution is $160,000," Bosco said, and the total construction value TxDOT would provide was presented in the meeting materials at about $750,000.
Bosco described the design scope to include a northbound right-turn lane and left-turn lanes on FM 5 at the Bankhead approach to provide improved access to local schools and to serve as an alternate route during other corridor changes. The court approved the agreement and the design contract by voice votes, with commissioners directing staff to finalize paperwork with TxDOT and return any final documents for signature as needed.
