Sam Weisgram said the low bid for project 8 from By 2 Minutes Paving was $231,000, which he described as $43,000 or 22.7% above the engineer's estimate of $188,000. “Although the bid was moderately higher than what we had anticipated, we did not identify any concerns with the bid pricing received,” Sam said, and recommended the commission award the contract.
The Chair entertained a motion; Commissioner Rick moved approval and Commissioner Valerie seconded. The commission approved the award by roll call. Department staff will issue the award and coordinate construction scheduling and traffic controls for the specified sections of US 18.
