DOT modifies Harrisburg TA project, approves TA awards and adds them to STIP

Staff presented the Transportation Alternatives (TA) recommendations and highlighted a department modification to one Harrisburg application. "The recommendation from the department would be to install a path from South Dakota 115 to Tiger Way on the north side of the road — approximately 0.333 of the original request," staff said, explaining the partial modification would create a key connection to an existing path and the school.
The department and recommendation committee also did not recommend funding a multi-mile Platte project because it was deemed more recreational than a transportation alternative. Commissioners asked about match requirements (about 20% local match) and confirmed the TA awards (with the Harrisburg modification and excluding project 11) and a motion to add the TA projects to the STIP passed on a voice vote.
