Doug Kinneberg said the department identified approximately $4,300,000 in unused prior grant funds and recommended applying them toward new awards for the 2026 grant cycle. "We've been able to fully close out 514 of the 621 grants that we've awarded to date... With those closures, we have identified an additional 4,300,000 in unused grant funding that we're recommending applying towards new grant recipients," he said.
His recommendation included awarding 11 preservation improvement grants totaling $6,492,000 and approving top-scoring replacement-rehab applicants for additional awards; commissioners discussed screening criteria, local five-year planning requirements and the balance between preservation and replacement work, then approved the awards and added the projects to the STIP.
