Yates County committee weighs $82,000 upgrade for chamber streaming system

The Yates County Government Operations Committee heard detailed options March 2 for installing streaming video in the Legislative Chambers. IT staff said the most basic option—a single camera mounted on the back wall—would cost about $7,900, while a full upgrade with dual cameras, wall TVs, a confidence monitor and system upgrades is estimated at roughly $82,000.
Tim Groth and Chad Pierce told the committee the IT team has also been working on Laserfiche, an email/Exchange project, a server room relocation and VMware host replacements; they reported the help desk handled 278 calls during the most recent reporting period. Committee Chair Pat Killen said additional information and budget discussion are needed before a decision. The committee indicated the item will be revisited at budget time.
