Chairwoman Laurie R. Tautel explained that special committees are renewed annually by resolution. Legislative Counsel Betsy N. Abraham told the committee that special or advisory committees are advisory in nature, do not require a quorum to conduct business because they do not take binding votes, and that recommendations or reports from those advisory committees are referred to statutory oversight committees. Abraham also confirmed that meetings can be held in hybrid format. Committee member Michael Amo noted it is often the prerogative of the advisory committee chair to determine meeting logistics, and he said virtual meetings can ease scheduling conflicts.
The resolution to appoint members to the Housing Task Force Committee carried with all members present voting in favor.
