Housing Access Voucher pilot to open 27 slots in March; state sets prioritization, county says

County staff said Orange County will participate in the Housing Access Voucher Pilot Program and that 27 slots will be available beginning in March.
Lacey Trimble, Commissioner of Social Services and Mental Health, told the committee the Housing Resource Center Team will be able to select families who are currently homeless; the state set priorities with large homeless families first because they are harder to place in shelters and hotels. Trimble said families facing eviction are next in priority and that if no families meet those criteria the program could proceed to individuals. When Janet Sutherland asked whether the program takes into account how long a family has been homeless, Trimble replied yes.
Trimble also said the Safe Option Support Team is working at warming centers to move people into emergency and permanent housing, and that Code Blue fund reimbursements had a slight change to allow additional hours though the overall allocation remained the same.
