Florence County Council opened the meeting with several ceremonial and administrative items. The clerk read a proclamation designating Feb. 22–28, 2026 as Montessori Education Week. Council also presented framed Resolutions of Recognition to the West Florence High School girls' tennis team for the 2025/26 SCHSL 5A Division II state championship and to individual athletes and a coach for recent state and regional honors.
Council approved the appointment of Michelle Bailey to serve on the Developing Communities Commission representing Olanta for the remainder of Marsha Jordan's term, expiring June 30, 2026. The appointment was moved by Councilman Springs and seconded by Councilman Rodgers and approved unanimously.
