Council approved multiple construction awards and a significant contract change order on Feb. 19. Hardee Construction Co., Inc. was the lowest responsive bidder on Bid No. 16 (Sardis‑Timmonsville Fire Station No. 2 expansion) at $1,323,000. The bid opening had seven bids with five compliant; the contract expires April 9, 2026.
For resurfacing, Council awarded Bid No. 20‑25/26 for Districts 1, 2 and the Town of Timmonsville to Chipley Company, Inc. of Florence for $1,315,146.24. Council also approved Change Order Nine for Bid No. 52‑23/24 with R.E. Goodson Construction Company, Inc. increasing that contract by $686,840.25 to include delayed asphalt surface course, undercut and replacement of unsuitable materials, additional rolled curb and concrete flumes per FCEDP, additional paving per SCDOT, and reconciliation of asphalt quantities; the total contract price with all change orders is now $20,200,220.02 and substantial completion was extended from 544 to 724 calendar days.
