County adds nine fire‑rescue leadership posts and approves EMS station design, museum design fee increase

Florence County Council approved the addition of six Battalion Chief (Grade 34) and three Assistant Chief (Grade 37) positions to support the expanded Fire Rescue structure as nonprofit departments are integrated into county operations. County Administrator Kevin Yokim said positions will be funded from Fund 37 and are budget‑neutral. The job descriptions were reviewed by Human Resources before approval.
Council also approved a design agreement with Collins & Almers Architecture for the new county EMS station to be funded from bond funds appropriated through Ordinance 47‑2024/25, and approved Amendment to McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture Phase II services, increasing the basic service fee by $320,000 (raising the Phase II fee to $1,734,170) for planned museum expansion work. Both design actions were authorized with the County Administrator empowered to execute agreements pending County Attorney review.
