Yates County Highway recommends in-house roadside mowing; multiple bids held for further review

Doug Rapalee presented the Highway department report and told the committee the recommendation that Yates County Highway staff mow all county roadways in 2026 is driven by cost considerations. Rapalee also reviewed several procurement items and recommended holding a set of bids for additional discussion. The items held included bids for cold milling & crushing/screening of asphalt pavement, paver placed surface treatment, and liquid bituminous material. He reported road machinery sales yielded $36,200, exceeding an anticipated $22,000, and noted specific bridge work timing: Pre-Emption Road Bridge signage will go up shortly with a tentative start date of March 23; Ferguson-Corners Road Bridge work is planned for spring 2027.
