Nate (S10) presented multiple personnel items. He said the county uses the Institute for Forensic Psychology to perform required pre-employment psychological examinations for new police officers and offered a one-year extension on existing terms. The committee approved that renewal by voice vote.
Nate also discussed moving forward with a resolution to include qualifying correction officers in a 25-year retirement system and explained the fiscal estimate to buy in current employees is roughly $1.13 million. He said the contract stage was already approved and this action is the next step to effectuate the buy-in; the committee indicated support and a resolution will be prepared.
Separately the committee approved appointing a social services assistant director at up to the midpoint of the management grade (step 6, $65,475) and discussed upgrading the county historian position from part-time to full-time and regrading it, with committee members asking about duties and budget impact.
