A school representative (speaker S8) briefed the administrative committee on the schools' annual contract for use of county voting machines, noting the current fees and the committee's intent to bank revenues to replace aging equipment.
S8 said the county charges $1,600 for the first voting machine and $1,000 for each additional machine. Committee members asked whether the revenues are placed in a reserve for future replacement and were told that while machines purchased by grant could not be charged for previously, recent purchases were paid from the county budget and the current fees are intended to offset cost and wear-and-tear.
The committee moved to approve the 2026 school contracts; members noted they would continue to set aside funds annually for equipment replacement and asked elections and finance staff to confirm the reserve accounting.
