Connie Terry, program assistant for the opioid committee, told the committee the county supports DEA-sponsored drug take-back days and that "in 2025, the sheriff's office collected 1,224 pounds of unwanted medications," which are transported for incineration at the DEA lab in Rochester.
Terry said Narcan trainings expanded in 2025, training 664 community members, and that ODMAP records showed 259 reported overdoses and 10 fatalities in 2025 — six of which occurred in March. She told members the five of those six March fatalities occurred within a 10-day period, which alarmed partners and led to interagency review and changes in ODMAP reporting and coordination. Terry also described outreach partnerships with libraries, schools and emergency responders and plans to target senior citizens for medication-management outreach in 2026.
