Board expands use of TACS to include delinquent real-estate tax collection

County Attorney Tyler Southall asked the board to take affirmative action to designate Taxing Authority Consulting Services (TACS) for delinquent real-estate tax parcel collection, expanding the county's existing contract that had been used for personal-property collections. "We already have a contract in place with TACS, but we just wanted the board to take an affirmative action, to designate TACS for real estate tax collection as well," Southall said.
Southall said the Public Procurement Act permits using legal-service designations for collection work and noted the treasurer has been pleased with TACS's work on personal property. A resolution authorizing the extension and designation was provided to the board; a motion to approve the resolution passed by roll call (all voting aye).
The approval formalizes an administrative expansion of collection services but did not include new contract text or dollar figures in the meeting packet; staff indicated the treasurer will continue to oversee implementation of the expanded services.
