Parks advocates describe staircase, shade and signage projects and ask court for funding matches

Members of the Kendall County Partnership Parks advisory group updated the court on last year’s completed projects and pitched upcoming priorities. The presenters said local foundations, businesses and volunteers supplied most funding and labor; the committee asked the commissioners to consider larger county matches to leverage outside grants.
One presenter summarized the group’s role: “So what we do is we raise money and then we implement many of these projects,” and highlighted a recently completed staircase at James Kiel that was donated in design by a local benefactor and installed with county road‑and‑bridge support. The group also described shade canopies added at playgrounds to reduce surface temperatures, interpretive trail signs arriving for Kreuzberg and James Kiel, and planned schematic designs for the newly purchased Guild property. Committee leaders urged the court to support a stakeholders’ workshop to guide future uses and to consider increasing the county’s match on large items.
