The council referred a set of communications to the Finance & Personnel Committee (including a proposed settlement authorization relating to Purdue Pharma and a lease/ground-lease framework with the Racine Zoological Society for a conservation education center) and moved multiple public-works items for committee review. The council also approved a street-closure request for a downtown event scheduled for September 20 and voted to place the remainder of referred items on the consent agenda, which passed by voice vote.
Licensing and public-safety items were considered by the Public Safety & Licensing Committee and several retail, cigarette/tobacco and other local licenses were approved following committee recommendation. A set of items moved to the consent agenda carried on the council's vote of the evening.
