Alder Perez said the addition of the chief and a closed session would help alder members better respond to constituent questions about recent fatal and violent incidents. Other alder members urged that some publicly shareable information still be released after any closed-session briefing so residents understand what the city is doing. The motion directs staff to schedule a Committee of the Whole briefing that includes the police chief and permits closed-session discussion of the strategic portions of the presentation.
