Court authorizes Card Connect merchant services and signs Title IV‑E DFPS contracts

During its Oct. 14 meeting, the Lubbock County Commissioners Court approved two administrative items: authorization for the county judge to sign merchant processing documents with Card Connect LLC and authorization to sign fiscal‑year 2025 Title IV‑E contracts with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
The Card Connect agreement will allow the county to accept online payments for clubhouse and facility reservations and expand automated reservation capabilities for county facilities. County staff described it as a modernization step to allow remote booking and payments.
The court also approved recurring Title IV‑E contracts that fund child‑welfare and legal services related to CPS work. Veil Burke of the DA's office explained the contracts support county attorneys who work on child welfare cases and described how state funding is apportioned for attorney positions and board functions. Both actions were approved by motion with no recorded opposition.
