Elections office readies Nov. 5 ballot: signature committee, bilingual clerks and judges approved

The court approved a slate of election appointments and heard an update from elections staff on preparations for the Nov. 5, 2024 general election.
Roxanne Stinson, representing the elections office, presented names submitted by party chairs for the signature verification committee and noted the board's prior approval. The court appointed Linda Hogue, Deborah Spencer, Patricia Page, Billy Russell, Stephanie Smith, Linda Wheeler, Elizabeth Blaney, Donna Sabins, Jerry Webb, Gail Webb, Bobby Herachata and Robbie Crumpler, and later designated Linda Hoag as chair and Deborah Spencer as vice chair of the committee.
Stinson also reported operations details: mail ballots and military ballots are being processed, training for poll workers is ongoing, and early voting preparations are underway with many early-voting sites hosted at United Supermarkets locations. She said the office has more than 194,000 registered voters on file and expects to exceed 195,000 by the Oct. 7 cutoff. The court approved Kevin Duarte, Sandy Salazar and Penny Morin as bilingual clerks and accepted an updated list of election day judges and alternates despite continued shortages of some Democratic judges.
