The Elko County Planning Commission reviewed several applications to fill upcoming vacancies and recommended one candidate to the Board of County Commissioners.
Two applicants who appeared at the meeting introduced themselves. Scott Govorski described his background in demographics, work with the U.S. Census and local outreach experience. Naomi Roche said she studied architecture, is working toward licensure and has planning and building experience in similar rural communities. Commissioner (9) moved to recommend Naomi Roche, noting her architecture education and relevant experience, and the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. The chair said the county commission will make the final selection at its Jan. 6 meeting.
Commissioners thanked applicants and noted the planning commission will forward its recommendation for appointments; any final appointment is made by the Board of County Commissioners.
