The Potter County Commissioners Court voted 5‑0 to fund the first year of a five‑year contract with Axon Enterprises Inc. for $239,196.27 to equip the sheriff's office with body cameras, 65 new tasers, dash cameras and evidence‑management services.
Scott from the sheriff’s office told the court the contract includes 56–65 body cameras, 65 "Taser 10" devices, 22 dash cameras, two interview‑room cameras and Evidence.com for digital evidence storage and management. "One of which is the ability to live stream body camera video directly from the officer," Scott said, adding the system supports officer safety and large‑scale evidence collection via a Community Request QR upload tool.
The sheriff’s office said the suite also includes software for professional‑standards work: internal affairs, use‑of‑force and pursuit reviews and management of citizen complaints. Commissioners asked about funding sources; the motion to approve specified funds would come from the sheriff’s designated accounts and carried on a unanimous voice vote. The court’s approval authorizes the sheriff to proceed with Axon deployment and associated purchases.
The contract’s first‑year cost and the court action were presented publicly; county staff noted the items have been received and are being installed or deployed. The Axon package will centralize digital evidence and provide new tools for managing community‑submitted material and internal reviews. The court recorded no dissents and asked staff to monitor implementation and data‑management practices.
