County awarded ADFP Trust Fund grant to fund Cost of Community Services study

Staff updated the APB that Orange County's application to the Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation (ADFP) Trust Fund to finance a Cost of Community Services study was submitted in December and accepted for further review. ADFP staff will conduct an interview with county staff in March to review the application and ask questions.
The county's project partner at North Carolina State University can begin work in early 2027 with an estimated completion window of late 2027 to early 2028. The study is intended to assess costs and benefits of community services relative to land uses, providing data to inform future land‑use and fiscal policy decisions.
