Leader Lambert moved adoption and concurrence on several appointment resolutions. HJR 886, confirming Tom Marino to the Public Charter School Commission, was moved, had no amendments and was adopted after the Clerk reported the vote and the Speaker declared it adopted.
During consideration of a later appointment, Representative Hart said he had received "serious allegations" related to the UT Health Science Center concerning Dr. Randall Davis, a current chair and reappointee, and moved to roll the resolution for one week pending receipt of more information. The motion to roll prevailed over objections and the item was deferred for one week for follow-up.
Separately, Leader Lambert moved substitutions with Senate joint resolutions (for example, substituting SJR 636 for HJR 897) and the House concurred with the Senate substitutes by recorded voice or unanimous consent where noted.
