Jackie Todd, a department head, told the Porter Public Works Authority at its May 8 meeting that water loss for the month was “about two and a half million gallons.” Todd said a single break accounted for roughly one million gallons lost in one day.
Todd also reported that a new water line on Highway 51B, running from Highway 69 to Porter, is currently being installed. The minutes list the item under department head reports and note the chairman had no report.
The minutes do not specify the cause of the break, expected repair timeline, or measures to reduce future loss; those details would require follow-up with Public Works staff or the department’s written report.
