Fire Chief Adam Springsted reported to the board that the Porter Fire Department responded to 40 calls in March: 25 medical calls, 11 brush fires, two motor vehicle accidents, one vehicle fire and one task force deployment. Springsted said all four storm sirens are currently working but two need to be replaced; he estimated siren replacement costs at about $26,000 each. Springsted also reported that the department’s radios are out of date and that 20 radios need replacement.
