Brown County Highway Superintendent Arec Burton presented the county's bridge inspection findings from late 2025 and early 2026, reporting six formal “critical findings” per INDOT and NBIS standards. Several structures have been repaired or mitigated: Bridge 127 (Kirks Ford Road) marked resolved; Bridge 81 (North Shore Drive) repaired; and Bridge 30 (Orchard Road) undergoing timber‑pile encasement. INDOT-funded replacements are planned for Bridge 20 (Hoover Road over Sweetwater Creek) and Bridge 112 (Mt Moriah Road).
Burton noted that load‑posting signage and increased inspection frequency were used to mitigate immediate risks on several structures while replacement or repair projects proceed. "There are currently no unsafe or unmitigated bridge conditions within the county system," the minutes record. Contractors are completing repairs and INDOT mobilization will follow receipt of final documentation for funded projects.
