Commission approves higher Medicaid reimbursement cap and ambulance change order

The commission approved an amendment to the interlocal agreement between Elko County and the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Healthcare Financing and Policy to increase the maximum reimbursement amount for Medicaid emergency transportation from $1,276,000 to $1,496,000. Ambulance Director Chris McCann said costs rose after Spring Creek Ambulance was added to the cost allocation and the program needed to reimburse a larger share of the county’s documented costs.
McCann also requested approval of a change order on an ambulance originally ordered in March 2023; production delays offered a chance to add safety features but chassis pass‑through costs raised the total change order to $18,670 (the published agenda incorrectly listed $7,324). The commission approved the amended reimbursement cap and the corrected change‑order total. Staff noted procurement and budget committee review had occurred and that Stryker equipment purchases were separately budgeted.
