BLM asks Elko County to join Deeth Land Health Assessment as cooperating agency

Melissa Fisher, Wells Field Office field manager, briefed NERMAC on the Deeth Land Health Assessment (DLHA) and the NEPA schedule. "The Deeth Land Health Assessment has been released on ePlanning," Fisher said, and BLM has asked the county to become a cooperating agency via a memorandum of understanding so local staff can review and shape the baselines used in analysis.
Fisher described weekly two-hour working group meetings that include BLM, state and county extension partners, and invited tribes and other cooperators; she emphasized the BLM wants county participation early in the drafting so that the NEPA document — whether an environmental assessment or ultimately an EIS — reflects local input. Committee members asked about permit coverage and Fisher clarified the DLHA area includes two allotment permittees and a trailing permit and that all permittees have been invited to participate.
