Committee approves new Fiscal Manager position for District Attorney’s Office

The Public Safety and Emergency Services Committee on Jan. 22 approved creating one Fiscal Manager position (Grade 15) for the District Attorney’s Office and abolishing one Associate Clerk II position (Grade 10) once the incumbent obtains permanent status. The motion was made by Thomas J. Faggione and seconded by Kathy Stegenga; the committee voted unanimously to approve the change.
County counsel staff said the role handles the bulk of the office’s financial duties, including paying invoices and managing grants. Christopher Borek explained that a Human Resources desk audit concluded the duties align with a Fiscal Manager classification and noted that both the County Attorney’s Office and the Office of Assigned Counsel have fiscal managers, supporting a comparable structure for the larger District Attorney’s Office. The committee record notes funding will come from existing vacant budgeted positions.
