Commissioners approve vouchers, delinquent tax sales, official bonds, appointments and employment items
Summary
The court approved $3.88 million in vouchers, expedited a delinquent tax sale, set statutory bonds for newly elected officials and approved appointments and hires, all mostly by unanimous votes; motions recorded and executed during the Dec. 23 meeting.
The Potter County Commissioners Court approved routine but consequential administrative items including vouchers, delinquent tax sales, official bonds, appointments and employment actions.
County staff presented vouchers processed by the county auditor: check numbers 214,558 through 214,770 and wire transfer 221632221, totaling $3,883,339.81; the court approved payment by voice vote. The tax assessor, Sherry Aylor, explained that a delinquent property sale was moved earlier than the usual February schedule after a prospective private sale fell through; commissioners approved the sale as presented and authorized deed execution. The court also set and approved official bonds for newly elected county officials as required by Texas law (examples in the agenda included a sheriff bond at $7,500 and a constable bond at $1,500).
The court appointed Linda Vaughn to the jail expansion committee and approved annual appointments such as Judge Walt Weaver to the bail bond board. Commissioners approved a slate of employment items (custodial hires, a new assistant public defender, and a resignation) and other routine administrative matters, generally by unanimous consent.
