Elko County Fire said it will host avalanche-response training on Dec. 8 or 9 with classroom and field exercises led by Mount Rose Ski Patrol, aimed at responders who may work in avalanche environments.
Jen Tingle said she is organizing a tabletop HAZMAT exercise simulating a train derailment behind the surgery center that would involve the surgery center, a clinic and HDI; she said objectives have been drafted and the group is working to fix a date before mid-December. Nancy Abrams noted a planned GBC disaster-day drill in April focusing on mass gatherings and invited agencies to participate.
