Commission approves vacation of irrigation easement so homeowner can build pool

The commission recommended approval of VAC-2025-04, a request to vacate a 12-foot irrigation and public utilities easement on Lot 4, Block 1 of the Coast To Coast (Laguna Point) subdivision so the homeowner could build a pool in the backyard.

Applicant Jacob Reuther said the irrigation pipe was rerouted and a new easement recorded on June 10; the existing PUE and irrigation easement was identified in blue on exhibits and the owner sought to remove the original easement so there would be no conflict with the proposed pool. Planning staff (Rick Butler) confirmed the relocation and noted staff's standard conditions of approval; Daniel Miller (planning staff) explained that a vacated easement extinguishes future rights to use it, which is why letters of relinquishment from affected parties are required. Commissioners praised the negotiated solution and approved the recommendation with staff conditions.
