The La Porte Planning and Zoning Commission voted Thursday to approve a proposed partial replat in the Sylvan Beach 1st Subdivision that would convert two 25‑foot lots into a single 50‑foot lot (about 6,250 square feet) on roughly 0.14 acres east of North Bayshore Drive.
John Matthews of the planning division told commissioners the property is zoned low density residential and that staff mailed notice to property owners within 300 feet and received one notice in opposition. "Staff recommends approval of the proposed residential replat," he said. No public speakers opposed the request at the hearing, and the commission approved the replat by voice vote.
State law requires a public hearing for a replat when property has been used or zoned for single‑family residential uses in the last five years, staff said. If approved tonight, staff will file the replat with Harris County.
