URA budget keeps funds for downtown art, new signage and potential defensible-space programs

Staff said the URA budget includes an allocation for downtown public art and that a public art advisory board will help determine acquisitions and placement. "We have the workforce housing grant, that's a carryover from this year, that is also for the large can commons project," the staff member said, and added that about $5,000 is earmarked for public art and that the advisory board will help set priorities.
On signage, staff said the city worked with Explorer Sisters to produce a signage master plan and preliminary engineering quotes for wayfinding kiosks and milestone signage. Committee members also discussed reserving contingency for programs to encourage wildfire resiliency—described as possible grants, matching grants or implementation support—which staff said would be brought back as policy options for future board direction.
