Commission approves temporary laydown yard permit for transmission-line contractor in Jackpot

The Planning Commission approved application 24-4000-0007 for the Society for Preservation of Western Heritage to use two parcels in Jackpot as a temporary laydown and storage yard with a caretaker residence during construction of a major transmission line. Staff (S11) outlined standard conditions including compliance with Nevada statutes, deed verbiage acknowledging the CUP, weight limits for vehicles on town streets, lighting restrictions, and installation of two fire hydrants at locations acceptable to the Jackpot fire chief.
Paul Boterri (S17), president of the Society, said leasing the lots for a laydown yard would provide income for the nonprofit and improve the parcels’ marketability. The Jackpot Advisory Board had unanimously recommended approval. The commission moved to approve with staff-recommended conditions and carried the motion by voice vote.
