La Porte honors three city employees with quarterly and annual awards

The La Porte City Council opened its meeting with presentations honoring municipal employees who have been singled out for service. City staff named Lindsay Ellison the fourth-quarter employee of the quarter, Chad Musgrove employee of the year, and Ray Mayo manager of the year after outlining each recipient’s duties and tenure.

Staff described Ellison’s role as a permit technician who recently received her code enforcement license and was promoted to a supervisory position. “Lindsay started working for the city in July 2022…She’s continually added to her skill set,” a staff member said during the presentation. For IT specialist Chad Musgrove, who staff said has handled AV and streaming for council evenings, the mayor and colleagues noted his “can-do attitude” and nightly presence at meetings. Public works director Ray Mayo was recognized for 37 years’ service to La Porte and his technical knowledge of the city’s water system: a presenter said, “Ray consistently directs and actively participates in the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.”

Council and staff paused briefly for the presentations and to invite family members to the dais. The acknowledgements concluded before the council moved on to citizen comment and the regular agenda.
