Commissioners split 3–2 to absorb Bushland ISD’s share of SRO supervisor salary
Summary
After Bushland ISD stopped funding three SRO positions and declined to pay 37.5% of the SRO supervisor salary, the sheriff asked the court to fund the 37.5% from savings in the sheriff's budget. The court approved the request 3–2 amid debate about whether the county should maintain funding for positions no longer supported by a partner district.

The sheriff told the court that Bushland ISD is eliminating three SRO positions and will no longer pay its 37.5% share of the SRO supervisor salary. He proposed using savings from the eliminated SRO salaries to continue paying the Bushland portion for the supervisor so the position remains in place.
"The SRO supervisor salary is $69,000. The 37.5%, which is Bushland's, is 25, almost 26,000," the sheriff said while laying out the math and a plan to reallocate salary savings. Commissioners debated whether the county should continue paying for a portion of a position when a partner district withdraws funding. The motion to fund the Bushland portion from the sheriff's budget passed 3–2.
