Commissioners approve budget amendments to record LEOs funds and shore up Veterans Court grant

The Potter County Commissioners Court approved two budget amendments on March 24 to record receipt of LEOs (Law Enforcement Officer Standards & Education) funds and to transfer county general-fund dollars into the Veterans Court grant fund to cover items the Texas Veterans Commission declined to reimburse.
"This is just to validate that we have received these funds to the commissioner's court and to set the expenditures," Brandon said, explaining the annual amendment for the LEOs funds. He told the court the Veterans Court administrative issue arose because a former director omitted one county from the initial grant application; the county has since amended the application for future years. Commissioner discussion focused on the affected expenditures, including transportation and a vehicle repair that had been grant-funded. The motion to adopt both amendments passed by voice vote.
