Commissioners discuss work-comp takeaways and employee manual updates including seatbelt, cell-phone and driver's-license rules

Commissioner Vern Eames reported on a workers’ compensation meeting in Boise and urged updates to the county’s employee manual to include a seatbelt policy, a cell-phone rule for drivers and a requirement that any employee who uses a county vehicle have a valid driver's license. "First, there should be a seatbelt rule. Second, a cell phone rule. Third, all employees who use county vehicles have a valid driver’s license," Eames said.
Prosecutor Misseldine told commissioners the driver's-license requirement already exists in the manual and recommended a form for elected officials to document an employee’s current license; the board agreed to add the topic to the agenda for the next elected-officials quarterly meeting. Commissioner Buhler also reported that Mike Kerswell will attend Mid-Snake Water’s monthly meetings on behalf of the county.
