Commission approves ARPA funding agreement for Goodwater Volunteer Fire Department

Coosa County Commissioners voted unanimously on Nov. 12 to approve a funding agreement with the Goodwater Volunteer Fire Department that uses ARPA revenue-replacement funds to support emergency services and community needs in the Goodwater area. Commissioner Ronnie Joiner moved the approval and Commissioner Brandon Davis seconded; Chair Lamar Daugherty, Administrator Amy Gilliland and Fire Chief Elmore Unbehant were authorized to sign the agreement.
The agreement (Project No. 01037-061-240409-0033) cites the county’s SLFRF/ARPA award and states the funds may be used to support emergency services, a new facility in the Goodwater area and an additional polling place to facilitate elections. The Commission’s resolution states the funding is a lawful public-purpose expenditure under cited Alabama case law and directs the VFD and county to comply with the grant terms.
