On Oct. 22 the Coosa County Commission unanimously approved a plan for health insurance cost-sharing: the commission will absorb a 3% portion of the insurance increase while employees will absorb 1.75%. Commissioner John Forbus moved the action and Commissioner Ronnie Joiner seconded the motion; the vote was recorded 4–0.
The commission also approved amendments to the sheriff's, probate and revenue budgets and passed an amendment authorizing department heads to give employees raises up to 3% at their discretion. Separately, the commission voted to hold the county administrator's pay at its current level 'until the office is caught up,' to immediately cease use of comp time and to require use of current leave. The minutes record unanimous approval but provide no further fiscal detail or salary figures.
