Engineer reports on FEMA bridges, Sellersville paving and equipment sales

County Engineer Justin Barfield provided a multi-part infrastructure update May 27 covering bridges, right-of-way acquisitions, paving, and equipment.
Barfield said right-of-way work for one FEMA bridge (Line Bridge) has a potential donor but needs an additional deed signature; four owners around the White Oak bridge require payment and some deeds have mortgages or judgment liens, complicating acquisitions. He said the White Oak project plans should be ready to LET in the next few months, with construction expected late fall to early winter. "The CDBG block grant for the paving in Sellersville should be going out for bid next week," Barfield reported, and crews have completed preparatory work.
Barfield also reported the eastern abutment is complete on the L. Vaughn Road bridge and piling work has begun; repairs to Poole Road increased the bridge weight limit by ten tons. He listed five driveway pipe installations since the last meeting and described an effort to update the SIMS program to record all road work for citizen responses. Barfield presented an agreement from JM Wood for the sale of two motorgraders guaranteeing $80,000.00 each; the Commission indicated the revised agreement requires the Chairman's signature to finalize the paperwork.
No formal votes were recorded on project acquisitions or equipment sales during the meeting; staff will continue right-of-way negotiations and prepare any required appraisals and bid advertisements.
