County Attorney Phil Eldridge and Commissioner Jeff Hatcher discussed with the Commission an approximately 50-foot by 880-foot railroad right-of-way strip in Coffee Springs adjacent to property owned by Mr. Jordan. Eldridge said the strip contains about 0.94 acres and that the Jordans, who are not Geneva County residents, could not be given the strip by the county because it would affect subdivision ability; Eldridge and Hatcher advised Jordan to obtain a letter of value from a broker or real estate agent if he seeks to acquire the right-of-way.
The minutes record that without the strip, the Jordans could not subdivide their property; the Commission did not take a transfer or sale action that day and no valuation or transaction occurred. No formal motion or vote was recorded on this item during the June 9 meeting.
