Sheriff reports 27 arrests in March; jail administration transition underway

Sheriff Tony Helms reported March activity to the Geneva County Commission, stating the office had 604 calls for service, 256 papers served, 80 reports written, 96 traffic stops and 27 arrests during the month.
Helms said he is determining which vehicles to declare surplus. Regarding jail administration, Commander Kelly is currently working part time to assist Mrs. Deemer with the transition; Mrs. Deemer told the sheriff she is resigning from the temporary administrator role and the department is accepting applications for an Assistant Jail Administrator.
