County Engineer Justin Barfield updated the Geneva County Commission on June 9 about equipment, subdivision activity and upcoming road contracts. The Commission declared a 2009 John Deere 7130 with a 2016 Tiger Boom mower surplus and authorized sale at auction; Barfield said two motor graders were scheduled to be sold at the JM Wood auction that week.
Barfield also announced that the Sellersville community CDBG paving project had been advertised; he said a pre-bid meeting is scheduled for June 16, 2025, and bids will be opened at the Commission meeting on June 23, 2025. Those procurement dates were recorded in the minutes for staff and contractors to note.
Barfield described ongoing maintenance work including driveway pipe installations, brush cutting, and right-of-way mowing on a list of county roads (County Roads 34, 36, 38, 41, and County Road 4). The engineer characterized rapid subdivision growth as a county challenge requiring coordination with developers and surveyors to ensure compliance.
