Putnam County approves interest in buying 1221 S. Bloomington St. for Health Department

Council President Stephanie Campbell read Resolution 2024-11-25-2 and Council member Larry Parker moved to approve; Phil Gick seconded and the motion passed.
County officials recorded an estimated purchase price of $750,000 and estimated renovation costs of about $600,000. Commissioners discussed timing for appraisals and next steps; County Attorney Jim Ensley told the boards that, since the Council had approved the resolution, the Board of Commissioners could proceed to order appraisals.
The boards did not adopt a final funding plan for the purchase or renovations during the session. Council members emphasized that any contribution from the Health Department toward renovations should not deplete its operating funds, and that allocations for renovation work will be a subject for further discussion. The meeting record shows no vote count beyond “the motion passed.”
