Commission backs rezoning of Eden parcel for phased recreation development

David Thibault of EHM Engineers, representing Danso LLC, told the commission the rezone is the first step in a multi‑phase plan to extend utilities to an executive clubhouse and office and to allow development of an RV park and recreational amenities. "Irrigation water rights are secured," Thibault said, and he described a permitted fourth access point that would serve the development. Kacie Buhler, Jerome County Planning Administrator, told commissioners the parcel meets REC‑1 criteria because of its access to thoroughfares and utilities.
Commissioners said the parcel is better suited for REC‑1 than A2 given its proximity to the highway and adjacent commercial development. Trish Heath moved to recommend approval; Becky Dean seconded. The motion passed unanimously. The commission documented its decision using testimony and County exhibits presented at the hearing.
Next steps: the recommendation will be forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners for final consideration and any required map amendment and permitting steps.
