Commissioners award courthouse and lake mowing contracts after Katy Allen Lake boundary clarification

Vernon County commissioners approved multiple mowing and landscaping contracts at their Dec. 11 meeting, including work for the courthouse, fairgrounds, sheriff’s office and Katy Allen Lake. Commissioner Cindy Thompson moved to award mowing to G & G Mowing at $100 per mowing for the courthouse and sheriff’s office and $525 per mowing for the fairgrounds; Eaton Lawn Care was awarded lake mowing after its bid was amended to $160 per mowing to cover additional lake grounds. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Everett L. Wolfe and recorded as passed by unanimous vote.
The amendment for the Eaton Lawn Care bid followed a clarification about property boundaries: the county noted Eaton’s original $120-per-mowing bid covered only the southern portion of Katy Allen Lake, and the commission decided the contract should include the ground north of the trail and the northwest parking lot inside the cables. Commissioner Thompson also moved to accept a separate landscaping contract at Centennial Hall and the courthouse from G & G Mowing for $350 per month; that motion also passed unanimously. The board adjourned until the next scheduled meeting on Dec. 17, 2024.
